On site data-driven testing for material performance.

Paralloy Group’s testing and analysis services deliver accurate, independent insight into material performance, integrity, and failure mechanisms. Through advanced testing and metallurgical expertise, we provide clear, factual information that supports confident decision-making and improved asset reliability.

Our root cause failure investigations help clients understand the limitations of existing designs and materials. By presenting clear findings and practical recommendations, we enable informed material selection and design improvements. In several cases, our work has supported the development of new fired heater designs using proprietary alloys from the Paralloy Group portfolio.

For investigation work, we collaborate closely with clients from sample selection through to final reporting, ensuring test samples reflect real service conditions. Clear milestones, regular updates, and a single point of contact ensure efficient delivery. Our final reports provide actionable recommendations and clearly defined benefits, allowing clients to make timely, well-informed decisions.

We deliver cutting-edge testing and analysis backed by transparent reporting, providing reliable data and actionable insights to support superior performance in every application.

Materials Testing

Metallurgical

As per customer requirements, detailed analysis, inspection and measurements for macro- and micro-structure and precipitation of different metallic and non-metallic inclusions is carried out using:

  • Microstructural analysis – Grain size (ASTM E112), phase identification, creep damage quantification. Micro etching is generally carried out in to ASTM E407.
  • Microstructural analysis – Macro etching carried out to ASTM E340.
  • Advanced analysis techniques using SEM, TEM, EDX, APT, TGA and Raman spectroscopy are carried via partnership from various labs and research facilities.
  • Thermocalc – for metallurgical simulation.

Chemical Analysis

At all stages of charge preparation, melting and casting, product analysis material chemistry is carefully controlled to precise ranges using advanced techniques;

  • Optical Emission Spectroscopy (OES)
  • X-ray Florescence (XRF)
  • Inductively Coupled Plasma (ICP-OES)

Mechanical Testing & Inspection:

As per customer requirements, various mechanical properties are measured for as-cast, machined and heat-treated tube and statically cast products:

  • Tensile Testing (Room Temperature & Elevated temperature) (ASTM A370)
  • Macro / Micro Hardness Testing
  • Creep / Stress Rupture Testing (ASTM E139)
  • Low and high temperatures
  • Short term / long term testing
  • Low and high stress

Component Testing

Non-Destructive Testing & Inspection:

NDE is carried out in accordance with National and International Standards to evaluate the external and internal quality of our centrifugally and sand cast products:

  • Liquid dye penetration inspection (ASTM E165)
  • Radiographic examination (X-rays and Gamma (γ))
  • Hydrostatic and Pneumatic testing
  • Magnetic particle inspection
  • Positive material identification
